The Colors of Water: An African American Jewish Journey
Originally premiered in March 2009 as a Mayyim Hayyim benefit concert,
The Colors of Water recounts Yavilah McCoy's inspiring and courageous story through story and song of the four-generation saga of her African-American Jewish family.
Yavilah McCoy says, "Mayyim Hayyim resonates with the journey my family has been on for four generations."
In
The Colors of Water, Ms. McCoy integrates the rich culture of both Black and Jewish people, combining her family's gospel singing tradition with classical Jewish liturgy.
Mayyim Hayyim co-founder and best selling author
Anita Diamant, director and playwright
Janet Buchwald, and acclaimed Jewish music producer
Josh Nelson, collaborate on the production.
