"מִי שֶׁלֹּא רָאָה שִׂמְחַת בֵּית הַשּׁוֹאֵבָה, לֹא רָאָה שִׂמְחָה מִיָּמָיו

One who did not see the water drawing festival, it was as if they had never seen joy in their lifetime"
Mishna Sukkah 5:1

This Sukkot, join Mayyim Hayyim Living Waters Community Mikveh and our partners Romemu Yeshiva, Shamir Collective, Jewish Studio Project, JArts, Mitsui Collective, Hadar, and Svara for a virtual afternoon of learning focused on joy, ritual, and the 2nd Temple practice of the Simchat Beit HaShoeivah, the joyous water drawing ceremony that occurred each year in Jerusalem during the intermediate days of Sukkot. We will draw from our own wellsprings of joy through learning, creative arts, embodied ritual, and a concert with Joey Weisenberg. All are welcome.

What can I expect?

We’ll begin with a shiur (class) from Hadar about the ritual of Simchat Beit Hashoeivah in ancient times, followed by a selection of activities and learning sessions with our partner organizations. This event will conclude with  a concert led by Joey Weisenberg. Participants will receive recordings of the entire event, including breakout sessions you did not attend.

Tickets are on a sliding scale from $36 to $54. $36 will cover the cost of your attendance, and $54 will help cover financial aid for other participants. If $36 is not financially sustainable for you, please email Amalia Mark, Director of Programs and Partnerships, at amaliam@mayyimhayyim.org. We are committed to making this event financially accessible for everyone.
