Spotlight on Reb Moshe
Reb Moshe is a
spiritual leader, is co-editor
of The
Big Book of Jewish Humor,
a storyteller and a stand-up
comedian.
Educated in a Yiddish-speaking
yeshiva and holding a doctorate
in Jewish intellectual history,
Reb Moshe taught at Wellesley,
Hebrew College and Brandeis
before receiving smicha, or
post-denominational ordination.
He has been the spiritual leader
at Temple Beth Zion since 1998.
Jewish humor, Waldoks says,
defines modern Jews. The best
Jewish joke, he explains, is one
that's got bite to it. "It's
gotta have a jab to puncture the
pomposity. Has to have a little
truth.
And some chutzpah."
