To prepare for immersion in the mikveh one must prepare the body as well as the spirit.  As Maimonides writes in the Mishne Torah (The Review of the Torah), "[The] sages have said, if a man immerses himself, but without special intention, it is as though he has not immersed himself at all." (Immersion Pools, Chapter 11:12)

To prepare the body, Mikveh guides instruct every guest about the physical cleansing process required before immersion.  This instruction occurs during the pre-immersion tour.
