To prepare for immersion in the mikveh one must prepare the body as well as the
spirit. As Maimonides writes in the Mishne Torah (The Review of the Torah), "[The] sages have said, if a man immerses himself, but without special intention, it is as though he has not immersed himself at all." (Immersion Pools, Chapter 11:12)
To prepare the body, Mikveh guides instruct every guest about the physical
cleansing process required before immersion. This instruction occurs
during the pre-immersion tour.
To prepare the soul, Mayyim Hayyim offers the following
Kavannot
(intentions):
Mayyim Hayyim's Seven Kavannot for Mikveh Preparation.
Copies are available at Mayyim Hayyim and you do not need to bring a copy with
you.
We also provide Kavannot for Kids which you can give to your child or read
